Homework
At Hillcrest School we recognise the importance of homework in developing students’ knowledge and skills beyond the classroom and extending their learning. The setting of regular, meaningful homework will help each child to make good progress and accelerate their academic success.
Homework will be set and explained in class but also posted on Class Charts (Log into your account).
All students and parents have a personal log in to the site. All deadlines for homework will be clearly
visible on the individual student’s homework list
Class Charts. is an online tool to help your child, and you keep track of their extended learning. You can see the details of the tasks your child has been set and their deadlines. We hope that it will improve your child’s organisation, time-management and help them to keep on top of their workload. Features include:

Year 12 and 13 Independent Learning Allocation
In KS5, students undertake Independent Learning, completed at school during independent study periods or at home during study at home periods. For every hour of teaching, KS5 students will be set a minimum of one hour of Independent Learning.
Due to complex timetabling and multiple subject teachers, Independent Learning deadlines are set in consultation between the teacher and the KS5 student, due in no less than 5 days from day of setting
Homework Hub Support
At Hillcrest School, we recognise the importance of completing homework to reinforce learning and develop independent study habits. To support students in meeting these expectations, we run a Homework Hub after school for 30 minutes each day. Students who fail to complete their homework are required to attend the session, where they receive guidance and a quiet space to complete their work. The Homework Hub is not a consequence but a supportive opportunity to help students stay on track, manage their time effectively, and take responsibility for their learning.
