Homework Allocations
Please find below homework timetables for students in Years 7-11; should you have questions regarding the nature of the homework set, or frequency, please contact individual subject teachers or Miss A Cooper.
All homework is set on http://hillcrest.showmyhomework.co.uk/school/home.
Show My Homework is an online tool to help your child and you keep track of their homework. You can see the details of the tasks your child has been set and their deadlines. We hope that it will improve your child’s organisation, time-management and help them to keep on top of their workload. Features include:

Year 7 Homework Timetable 2019-20
At Hillcrest we recognise the importance of homework in developing students’ knowledge and skills beyond the classroom. The setting of regular, meaningful homework will help each child to make good progress and to succeed in their examinations.
Homework will be set and explained in class, but also posted on showmyhomework. All students and parents have a personal login to the site. All deadlines for homework will be clearly visible on the individual student’s homework list.
Additional notes:
Students in Year 7 are expected to spend an average of one hour per night on homework.
In some subjects, a longer project or extended piece of homework may be set. This may last for up to half a term. In this case, the homework will be broken down into short-term goals to allow students to manage their time.
The pattern of homework may change at certain times of the year e.g. before examinations and during practical sessions in Technology.
In addition to the above allocation, Performing Arts homework will be set when required.

In addition to the homework set by subject staff, they are expected to spend approximately fifteen minutes on reviewing their day’s lessons or revision. This is included within the one hour and thirty minutes
In some subjects, a longer project or extended piece of homework may be set. This will usually be the case for many BTEC and Foundation Learning courses. The project may last for up to half a term. In this case the homework will be broken down into short-term goals to allow students to manage their time.
The pattern of homework may change at certain times of the year e.g. before examinations and during practical sessions in Technology.
